David Avery (Senior Web Content Developer, British Library) ‘Uniting collections across Europe: Building the British Library’s World War One Learning Website’

This presentation will also include an overview of the Europeana 1914-1918 portal from a user’s perspective.

Andrea Meyer Ludowisy, Steven Baker, Nick Barratt (Senate House Library) ‘Creating and developing an online resource network – the story of German Resources in Britain (GRiB)’

Jane Harvell (University of Sussex), Rachel Kirkwood (University of Manchester), Teresa Elmes and Graeme Lockheart (King’s College London), Maureen Pinder (University of Bradford).

A panel of UK librarians will present their current institutions and roles, with a focus on institutions that have moved either wholly or partly from subject-based to function-based teams. They will lead a discussion with conference delegates, and consider how best the WESLINE groups can provide support for people in the subject aspects of their roles

15.45-16.15: An introduction to the British Library’s Newsroom (Stewart Gillies, News & Media Reference Team Leader, British Library) Chair: Susan Reed (British Library)

This presentation will introduce the new reading room and provide an update on how to access the newspaper collection since the closure of its old home at Colindale.

16.15-16.45: Annual General Meeting of the German Studies Library Group

16.15-16.30 and 16.45-17.00: Tours of the Newsroom led by Stewart Gillies (each tour limited to 10 participants)

16.30-17.00: Tour of the British Library’s Animal Tales exhibition in the Entrance Hall led by the exhibition’s co-curators Dr Matthew Shaw and Alison Bailey

17.15 – 17:45: Wine Reception

18:00: Conference Dinner at the Norfolk Arms, Leigh Street
